The Yavapai Downs is a new one mile horse track located at the base of Mingus Mountains in Prescott Valley that took over what was originally known as the Prescott Downs. It opened in 2001 over the Memorial Day weekend to a crowd of over 35,000 participants. This 200 acre site has several different facilities such as a Multi Purpose Indoor Area, Outdoor Warm Up Rings and Arena, two stall areas capable of accommodating 1,500 horses, the 85,000 square foot three story Grandstand and Club House big enough for 5,000 people and of course the race track.
The regular season for the Yavapai Downs lasts from Memorial to Labor Day allowing for 56 thoroughbred and quarter horse races. The simulcast schedule is everyday of the week and it includes live races.
