What was once known as the Apache Gold Hotel Casino is now called Best Western Apache Gold, and the change in management has not improved the facilities or game play available. In fact, the size of the table game area has shrunk since the Best Western takeover, and conditions at the hotel attached to the casino have done anything but improve. Apache Gold Casino Resort Review
From terrible Apache Gold Casino Resort reviews at TripAdvisor.com to my personal bad experience with the hotel staff it appears the hotel staff are not the friendliest and you may have customer service issues. Reviewers at TripAdvisor have some pretty bad stories involving false charges on bills and surly staff.
Apache Gold Casino Poker Room
For those looking to gamble, the situation isn't great. The new management have "temporarily closed" the Apache Gold Casino poker room, and when asked directly about the closing were not willing to offer an explanation.
In a state where the ratio of slot machines to table games is outlandishly steep, closing an entire poker room without promise of return or renovation is not the brightest move if you're trying to attract a serious gaming population. This move seems like the new management is refocusing their scope to include extremely shallow tourists or a vulnerable and slot loving elderly population.
The casino's blackjack room is still open, from ten am until the last customer folds. There is hope for the Apache Gold if you're a table gamer, what little glimmer it may be.
One thing we can all agree about on the positive side -- the facilities at the Best Western Apache Gold are nice. In particular, visitors rave about the spa: pool clean and friendly, sauna extra steamy and clean. Perhaps the hotel is working on their customer service, and hopefully the poker room is closed for some amazing renovation -- imagine 100+ tables dotted among gorgeous young waitstaff, maybe massage chair seats and wide screen HD sports in every nook and cranny. We can only hope.
